Hi,
I'm attempting to connect Excel 2011 to a MySQL database. I just tried
installing the latest version of ODBC Connector which is 5.2.4 (specific
download name pasted below). This says it is for os x 10.7, but I don't
see one for 10.8 so I gave it a shot. The installer fails when I try to
install it. Is this expected? Is there a free ODBC Connector for os x
10.8 or am I forced to pay for the ActualTech version?

I'm having trouble installing the ODBC connector on OS X with the instructions provided here:

Not sure what to do. Any advice appreciated.

We need to use MySQL ODBC Drivers for next environment:

- OS (linux): RHEL 6.2

- MySQL Cluster: 7.1.22 (RehHat)

I have checked latest ODBC drivers version 5.1.11 is available for Red Hat 6, but we should assure that it works with concrete MySQL cluster 7.1.22 under RHEL 6.2 version.

I am on a MacAir 10.7.4, 64-bit (I think, I should check this...)

I installed the latest MySQL 5.5.25 package for the Mac, 64-bit (I believe!) and have successfully set up a DB 'test' and imported the northwind DB into it through the command line.

I have installed Connect/ODBC 5.1.11 64-bit from the DMG, and set up a DSN in ODBC Administrator. There appears to be no setup library (is this correct?) so I guessed what I needed to type in, setting my server to 'localhost' and the database to 'test'

In Excel I am now trying to extract data from the DSN.

The problem is there is rather sketchy information as to the last MyODBC Connector version that is compatible with version 3.23 of MySQL. 3.51.30 got installed and it is not compatible. Backing down to 3.51.23 solved the problem.

Question is, other than trial-and-error, is there anything that says what the last compatible version of 3.51 is? I was guessing with the .23 release and it seems to have worked out OK, at least for now.

i am getting a write confict when trying to do basically anything - even
make a change to a field in the database.

i have researched this pretty extensively and see many people saying that
adding a timestamp filed to the table in MySQL will correct it and/or
eliminating NULL fields. i have done both of these and still get the same
write conflict (this record has been changed by another user). .. i am the
only user on the database.

i'm wondering if i have set up the connector incorrectly or there is
something else.....

I'm trying to build 5.1.10 on OS X with unixODBC installed via MacPorts,
and the build process can't seem to find the libs when it goes to link
them. I've configured the build like so:

MacPorts puts things in an idiosyncratic location: /opt/local.

I am new to mysql, I have install mysql 5.5.16 on window 7. My one user is sitting in diffrent State and i want to give him access to mysql database using odbc, so that he/she can update/view the relevant infromation in the databast by using ms acces as front end. Please suggest how it is possible.

've got MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.1 installed on my Windows Vista laptop. I have
MySQL 5.5.19 installed on the laptop, and was able to connect to it via the
Windows Data Source Administrator app and the MySQL Connector/ODBC using a
TCP/IP connection to 'localhost'. I could connect to the MySQL database both via
the command-line client and via M$ Access and Excel.

I also have Virtualbox installed with a LAMP server running on a host-only
network. I can connect to the LAMP server via cmd.exe, PuTTY, Firefox, etc.

I'm trying to run a make for the Connector/ODBC 3.51.29 and run into this linking error:

I worked around the last error by copying all the qt header files to another

I had the same issue and managed to solve it by installing the 32 bit
version of the ODBC connector.
