Changing the default packager to NSIS?

Hi!

Creation of a proper installer has become much easier, recently, but I
think there is still room for improvement. The next item on my list for
this would be the choice of default packager (current 7z).

In summary: I propose changing the default to NSIS.

Some backgorund in case it is needed: Grepping the current
portage, there are 17 ports containing "createPackage". I _assume_ those
identical to the ports that are currently distributing or preparing
binaries.

Kompare on windows using craft

So I tried to install Kompare on windows using craft.
I followed the instructions at <a href="https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Build_from_source/Windows" title="https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Build_from_source/Windows">https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Build_from_source/Windows</a>

I used mingw-w64 on an up to date 64bit windows 10 machine.

When launching Kompare from the craft environment I get a kompare window that pops up with just an error that says
“Could not load our KompareViewPart.”
An image that further explains this is available at <a href="http://imgur.com/a/XVEig" title="http://imgur.com/a/XVEig">http://imgur.com/a/XVEig</a>

Any help would be appreciated.

Craft Stable

Hi everyone,

We recently got a stable branch and will soon have KF5 binaries.
So basically we'll have a KF5 Windows SDK soon.
Regarding those binaries I created a poll[1] and I'd like you to participate.
For more information please read my blog post about the Craft Cache[2].

Status of Krusader on Windows

Hi,

I'm involved in developing Krusader (KDE's twin-panel file manager) for some time now, so
it feels a bit strange for me to ask: What is the status of compiling/running Krusader on
Windows? Is there anybody out there who is successfully using it OR would be interested in
making this happen (again)?
There are some traces of a Windows port in the code but it's seems to be dead now for a
long time.

I just tried using craft for the first time in several months, and have

I then got some messages about needing to set the python27 variable. Is
2.7 really needed in addition to 3.6?

Recent KAuth build failure in Craft on Mac

Hi, this is Rob Lancaster. I help out with KStars coding. I mainly have been porting it to mac with several other people. We have been using Craft/emerge for building it for deployment which has worked very well overall for several months (except for several problems that Hannah von Reth has helped us with). But just the other day, a build error showed up that had not happened before. KAuth failed to build, which is of course a dependency, causing our whole build to fail.
I don't have GLIBC on my system of course and this appears to be the source of the error.

Kile on Windows 10

Dear People,

first things first: happy new year! I'm sorry to bother you with my very
basic Problem, but I can't seem to install Kile on windows 10. I managed
to download the installer but after running it, I can't chose a Server
to download from - the list just stays empty. Also after manually adding
some sources I get an error telling me the files are not found on the
server.

So, here is my question: Is the server download.kde.org down?

Unable to install KDE

Hi,

I am having some issues on the installation of KDE and I was not able to
find any help on the Internet.

When the installation reaches the Release selection step, the list of
available releases remains blank.

I've tried many different servers, but the problem persists.

Would you please help me with this issue?

Attached is the print screen of the error and the installation log. I am
running Windows 7 32bits.

Thanks in advance.

kioslave hardcoded path

Hi all,

We are working on a Kdenlive Windows version, compiled with mxe. We got it
mostly working, but have a problem with the kioslaves.

Simply opening a filedialog (KFileDialog), we get an error related to
kioslaves, and no files/directories are displayed.

App-installed icons on Windows

Hi,

We have in place a solution to load the Breeze icon theme from
"icontheme.rcc" on Windows. But how can we do to also use app-installed
icons? Can we just register two rcc files? Should we change the code to
load every *.rcc file in the data dir, so apps can provide their own,
instead of limiting it to a single one?

Idea for Craft: Splitting 'build' and 'image' directories

Hi everyone,

When using Craft to build a package "X", two different directories are
created inside the directory "build/X":

* "build/X/work", which typically is the cmake build directory.
* "build/X/image-<buildtype>", which contains the "installed" files.

The files inside "image" need to be preserved in case we later want to
create an installer for our package.

KDE Emerge emerged as Craft‏

The KDE Emerge tool got a new name.
Not only that, Craft is capable of so much more than just building KDE on Windows.

Craft is an open source meta build system and package manager.
It manages dependencies and builds libraries and applications from source, on Windows, Mac, Linux and FreeBSD.

Read the announcement[1] and start Crafting!

Visite the new Community Wiki[2]
or our new repository[3]

Kind regards,

Hannah

Emerge has moved‏

Dear emerge users,
Due to the naming conflict with Gentoo emerge we decided to rename KDE Emerge.
The new name is Craft and the git repository has already been moved.
The new repository can be found here <a href="https://commits.kde.org/craft" title="https://commits.kde.org/craft">https://commits.kde.org/craft</a>
As we want to express that Craft not only focuses on Windows we created a new community page for Craft <a href="https://community.kde.org/Craft" title="https://community.kde.org/Craft">https://community.kde.org/Craft</a> .Its still missing content but its supposed to be the new home of Craft.
We will soon publish a real announcement by blog and mail.

Keep on crafting !
Kind regards,
Hannah

Status of Qt 5.8 in Emerge?

Hello,

Any news on Qt 5.8 support on Windows? I really want to compile against
this so I can compile KStars _without_ the zombie bug on exist (
<a href="https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366596" title="https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366596">https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366596</a>) which is a show-stopper for us
on Windows!

I _believe_ this issue is fixed Qt 5.8 so I tried emerging today but I
repeatedly get this error:

Review Request 129301: Teach QMakeBuildSystem to configure and run tests when emerging with -t flag

KDE emerge loves Unix

Yes!
We finally did it.The Unix branch of emerge is finally merged into master.
What does it mean? Now you are able to use emerge from master on Windows, Mac and Linuxto compile and package your awesome software.
JpegWe replace multiple jpeg variants with libjpeg-turbo[1],which fixes multiple issues we had before. The big benefit is a modern CMake build system, so we don't have to maintain our own custom patches.

Hopefully we didn't break too much (it looks promising) but please help us to spot issues.
Happy compiling,
Hannah von Reth

KDE Windows - qtbase won't compile

Hello, I'm having some issues compiling qtbase when attempting to build
Kate, the DirectX SDK is installed per the instructions. It gets to
compiling libglesv2, but it almost instantly says "process: destroyed while
process still running", the goes to compiling qtbase itself, which fails.
I'm running on Windows 7 SP1 64bit. Thanks for your time.

/: convert all duplicated icons into symlinks

Git commit c994bb7dda00c8bb3713f9d5c75334c3dabdccb8 by Harald Sitter.
Committed on 28/09/2016 at 08:57.

convert all duplicated icons into symlinks

I understand on windows symlinks need to be manually flattened, so I
suggest the KDE Windows team makes sure whatever they do for breeze is also
done for oxygen
