problems trying to compile libpng-1.5.28

I've been struggling with this for a while now. During the compile
phase, I get the following errors:

issues with latest craft

I just tried using craft for the first time in several months, and have
run into a number of issues. Help or suggestions on any of them would
be appreciated. (I posted some of these to the IRC channel, but so far,
haven't seen any response.)

1) per an error message, I upgraded my python from 3.5 to 3.6. However,
I then got some messages about needing to set the python27 variable. Is
2.7 really needed in addition to 3.6?

then I typed craft okular, it says:

Am I doing it right to install okular?

Recent KAuth build failure in Craft on Mac

Hi, this is Rob Lancaster. I help out with KStars coding. I mainly have been porting it to mac with several other people. We have been using Craft/emerge for building it for deployment which has worked very well overall for several months (except for several problems that Hannah von Reth has helped us with). But just the other day, a build error showed up that had not happened before. KAuth failed to build, which is of course a dependency, causing our whole build to fail.
I don't have GLIBC on my system of course and this appears to be the source of the error.

KSycoca unittest: reduce the amount of waiting, if Qt >= 5.8 is used.

lastModified() finally returns milliseconds (qtbase commit 494ced1), which
means we don't need to wait a whole second just to detect that a file was
modified.

Not sure about Windows though...

Kile on Windows 10

Dear People,

first things first: happy new year! I'm sorry to bother you with my very
basic Problem, but I can't seem to install Kile on windows 10. I managed
to download the installer but after running it, I can't chose a Server
to download from - the list just stays empty. Also after manually adding
some sources I get an error telling me the files are not found on the
server.

So, here is my question: Is the server download.kde.org down?

Unable to install KDE

Hi,

I am having some issues on the installation of KDE and I was not able to
find any help on the Internet.

When the installation reaches the Release selection step, the list of
available releases remains blank.

I've tried many different servers, but the problem persists.

Would you please help me with this issue?

Attached is the print screen of the error and the installation log. I am
running Windows 7 32bits.

Thanks in advance.

App-installed icons on Windows

Hi,

We have in place a solution to load the Breeze icon theme from
"icontheme.rcc" on Windows. But how can we do to also use app-installed
icons? Can we just register two rcc files? Should we change the code to
load every *.rcc file in the data dir, so apps can provide their own,
instead of limiting it to a single one?

Idea for Craft: Splitting 'build' and 'image' directories

Hi everyone,

When using Craft to build a package "X", two different directories are
created inside the directory "build/X":

* "build/X/work", which typically is the cmake build directory.
* "build/X/image-<buildtype>", which contains the "installed" files.

The files inside "image" need to be preserved in case we later want to
create an installer for our package.

KDE Emerge emerged as Craft‏

The KDE Emerge tool got a new name.
Not only that, Craft is capable of so much more than just building KDE on Windows.

Craft is an open source meta build system and package manager.
It manages dependencies and builds libraries and applications from source, on Windows, Mac, Linux and FreeBSD.

Emerge has moved‏

Dear emerge users,
Due to the naming conflict with Gentoo emerge we decided to rename KDE Emerge.
The new name is Craft and the git repository has already been moved.
The new repository can be found here <a href="https://commits.kde.org/craft" title="https://commits.kde.org/craft">https://commits.kde.org/craft</a>
As we want to express that Craft not only focuses on Windows we created a new community page for Craft <a href="https://community.kde.org/Craft" title="https://community.kde.org/Craft">https://community.kde.org/Craft</a> .Its still missing content but its supposed to be the new home of Craft.
We will soon publish a real announcement by blog and mail.

Yes!
We finally did it.The Unix branch of emerge is finally merged into master.
What does it mean? Now you are able to use emerge from master on Windows, Mac and Linuxto compile and package your awesome software.
JpegWe replace multiple jpeg variants with libjpeg-turbo[1],which fixes multiple issues we had before. The big benefit is a modern CMake build system, so we don't have to maintain our own custom patches.

Hopefully we didn't break too much (it looks promising) but please help us to spot issues.
Happy compiling,

New kdeenv.ps1 file

My system chokes on the new file. Also, there is no way to clean up
variables that are incorrect from a failed attempt. The script cannot
find Python even though I have 2 versions and have Python2.7 in my path.
I try to pass it to the script and it just starts over saying it cannot
find python.

When the script doesn't like information I give it, it closes my
PowerShell window even though I opened it before running the script.
When it installs the version of Python it wants, it throws errors.
Nowhere at kde.org is the preferred version of Python specified.

patch for kdiagram

extragear/kdiagram fails to compile with mingw due to not finding _isnan
and _finite. I wouldn't propose applying this patch as is, since I
don't know what else it might break, but it does let me complete the
emerge of kdiagram.

If the attachment doesn't get through, it is just a replacement of
_isnan with std::isnan and of _finite with std::isfinite in the file
src/KChart/KChartMath_p.h. As I understand it, the _xxx macros are not
defined on Windows, but the c++ standard does include isnan and isfinite.

Pull Request:- pull_req

Dear Sir,

I added a small feature to powershell script file setup/install_emerge.ps1
that if the *installRoot* exists in the location we are installing emerge.

Then user get 3 options:-

1. Truncate installRoot and install emerge in it.
2. Change installRoot location. It also proposes new directory name as
default with suffix string "*(1)*" to the user. For Example:- if
installRoot chosen is *d:\kderoot*, then it will propose new directory
name as *d:\kderoot(1)*.
3. Quit installation.

I have explained about the changes I made.

KDE applications remain detached after you shut them down

Hi,

Using the latest emerge/qt/kf5 on Win10 64bit. If you run a KDE application
(I tried kstars and kwrite), then if it gets closed, the process remains
running as detached. If you run another instance and then close it, you'll
get another detached process and they keep on piling up.

I noticed there is a patch
(do-not-spawn-console-qprocess-startdetached.patch) in qtbase that could be
the cause of this perhaps?

Before the patch, you'd have process like http_cache_cleaner.exe spawns a
console window up which was very annoying.

<a href="http://pasteboard.co/25UA6x1Z.png" title="http://pasteboard.co/25UA6x1Z.png">http://pasteboard.co/25UA6x1Z.png</a>

IIRC, gpg is not available yet in emerge. I patched KNewStuff to ignore it

KNewStuff3 .knsrc file fails to load under Windows

Hello,

Found a new bug today when KStars KNewStuff3 was started. The error is
"Configuration file kstars.knsrc is invalid".

KNewStuff3 sends the filename as "kstars.knsrc" which is under Windows is
installed to $KDEROOT/etc/xdg and also to $APPIMAGEDIR/etc/xdg

Traced problem with KConfigPrivate::changeFilename() where it checks if the
file path is absolute and when it fails it creates a new file. Hence, it
then fails to read any contents. The resource type (GenericConfigLocation)
doesn't appear to be used to find the absolute path of the file.

How to resolve this issue?

This is all very much work in progress so far, but we already got Kate to

Heads up: Emerge: Upgrade to Qt 5.6

Heya,

we've dropped support for everything below Qt 5.6 recently (as part of cleanup
efforts) in Emerge.

So you if you have something like this in kdesettings.ini:

[PortageVersions]
Qt5 = 5.5

... please either let it point to 5.6 (git branch) or 5.6.1 (tarballs).

Thanks,
Kevin
