Orphaned bouml

Hello everybody,

I have orphaned the bouml [1, 2] package. I haven't used this
application for almost a decade, and don't have any time or motivation
to give it the attention that it needs.

Feel free to pick it up if you want to. If you do, you might want to
update it to one of the more recent upstream releases [3].

Someone could also create a Flatpak and submit it to Flathub!

Cheers,
Rishi

That is not possible because Bouml is not Free Software anymore.

Bouml 7 is "free" as in beer, but not Free Software, and therefore not
allowed in Fedora. (The intermediate versions 5 and 6 were also proprietary
and required the purchase of a license.) 4.21 is the last version we can
ship, and so this needs to be treated like any other software that is dead
upstream.

Hi Kevin,
thanks for this important hint about the license change.
Maybe we can ship a package for douml instead? DoUML [*] is a fork and provides official support for Qt5 with a combined license model [**].
Of course, any objection must be considered in a new request for package review. I can work on that.

Hi Debarshi,

I can take bouml (and maybe also bouml-doc).

New homepage and latest version of bouml is 7.7.1:
<a href="https://www.bouml.fr/historic.html" title="https://www.bouml.fr/historic.html">https://www.bouml.fr/historic.html</a>

Maybe we should do a new package review because of the major version bump and verify with current packaging guidelines? But without going through an official orphan process.

Regards, Raphael

Once it's orphaned, you need to file a ticket to get ownership. But
before six (IIRC) weeks pass, no official re-review is needed.
