after 12.04 LTS upgrade

The upgrade apparently went fine.
But I can no longer use FileZilla:

Status: Connecting to 192.168.0.101:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 (vsFTPd 3.0.2)
Command: USER william
Response: 331 Please specify the password.
Command: PASS ******
Response: no talloc stackframe at
../source3/param/loadparm.c:4864, leaking memory
Error: Could not connect to server

I haven't a clue what this means or how to fix it.
Suggestions please.

This is a common problem for me. Happens to all my fresh Ubuntu 14.04
installs. (not upgraded)

I have to run 'sudo pam-auth-update" and uncheck "SMB password
synchronization"
