Nomination acceptance

I am honoured to be nominated for the Maemo Community Council and Hildon
Foundation Council and I accept the nomination.

The reason that I do accept despite that I have recently said otherwise is
because I feel that a vote with many candidates is needed to provide
legitimacy to the elected council to take the actions required.

My goal for the next term is to minimize the needless bureaucracy that has
made our life difficult the last few months and part of this effort is the
combination of the two bodies MCC/HFC into one, as I firmly believe there
is no need for two different councils.

Candidature for May 2013

I accept the nomination/suggestion for the maemo community council & hildon foundation council.
So I hereby self-nominate both as above.

newer tools on autobuilder?

Hi,
Is Hildon Foundation now owner of garage autobuilder?

Does Hildon Foundation have plans to upgrade Maemo or only keep it
alive? (bylaws: "maintain software repositories and developer tools")

Who decides what tools, libraries, compilers and so on autobuilder is

Dear Jolla,

Happy New Year! And, congratulations on your successful launch in
November. We were all watching in hopeful anticipation and were
pleasantly surprised.

Happy New Year from the Hildon Foundation — and future years to come for the Maemo Community!

Happy New Year Maemo Community!

As we move into the new year, we’re also faced with a very new phase of
life — that is, complete control of the maemo.org infrastructure,
meaning community governance of the Maemo Community and everything that
it implies (community servers and software repositories, various
maemo-related software and technology, the talk.maemo.org forum and
wiki, etc.).

vcs access and SSL certificate

Hi,

You probably know that the SSL setup on vcs.maemo.org is broken. The
certificate and the private key file do not match.

The certificate will anyway expire on the 3rd of Jan, 2013. Hope that
the Hildon Foundation can request a new one, as soon as the domain
ownership is transferred.

Could anyone help us with a Nokia contact? (maemo.org competition related)

Hi all,

We're trying to track down 2 missing device prizes from the coding
competition (we've tried a few Nokia contacts over the past while but have
had no luck with responses). Would anybody know anyone inside Nokia who
might be able to assist us with locating these two missing devices?

One was to be sent to maemo.org member netvandal and one to
maemo.orgmember Wikiwide. Neither have received a shipping
notification or tracking
number, and nothing has arrived for these guys. The prizes for the other
winners have been received fine long ago.

Just as a friendly reminder see attached mail from Andrew (Jaffa).
Just claiming there are "issues" is a tad thin.
Since you (board) are inheriting those new servers today or tomorrow anyway,
it is the absolutely most cost efficient place to host tmo right now (actual
cost: zero), given Nemein is willing to set up a plain VM for this purpose.
Running the VM will be basically for free.

maemo.org services go to read only mode for the migration

Hello,

The subject says it all.

Once the services are read only we will start rsyncing data to the new
hosting. As soon as this move is completed we will verify the new setup
and if all goes fine will apply the necessary DNS changes.

I just want to ask if you are OK with the timing: today, 2012-12-18 1600

We'd like to take a minute to unveil the new Hildon Foundation website:

Foundation and the Maemo Community:

<a href="http://hildonfoundation.org/support/" title="http://hildonfoundation.org/support/">http://hildonfoundation.org/support/</a>

This is the same method that's being used here on tmo:

In a conference held by Nokia, Nemein and the Hildon Foundation, Nokia has
offered to help economically in the process of migration. The details for
starting the migration are under discussion.

Nokia is already working with the Hildon Foundation in a legal document to
cover the transferring process of maemo.org assets.

New Council Introduction and 2012-11-16 Council Meeting Minutes

Hello all,

First, greetings to everyone from your new Council members. As you all already might know, on the council for this term are:

* [Alexander Kozhevnikov / Mentalist Traceur][1]
* [ Iván Gálvez Junquera / ivgalvez][2]
* [Joerg Reisenweber / joerg_rw][3]
* [Michael Demetriou / qwazix][4]
* [Niel Nielsen / nieldk][5]

We look forward to serving you for the duration of our term. We will also keep posting the minutes of every meeting we hold, just as the last council did.

Re: Banned from maemo.org - someone went ape shit nuts?!

Why don't you do this on your own? Go to TMO and find ANY post by Estel. You can then look up the user profile by clicking his name, and see *all* posts (most recent first). Just review the past dozen or so posts, and you will see him being just as offensive and baselessly accusatory there as he has been in this thread.

Re: Fw: Re: Banned from maemo.org - someone went ape shit nuts?!

Just had to clarify:

Estel did not leave council on his own purpose. He was politely asked to
leave because he ordered parts for his private CNC machine via councils
.org mail-address without asking the rest of the council.

A standard troll strategy is to twist the reality just a little bit so it
fits into their distorted reality.

Another strategy is name-called. Trying to focus the attention around other
people by naming them again and again.

Banned from maemo.org - someone went ape shit nuts?!

By advice of helping soul from IRC and Estell (thanks, man!), i'm sending my rant here: what the hell is happening with maemo.org forum?! Today, one moment i'm posting, and two hours later i see this:

Open Letter from the Hildon Foundation Board to the Maemo Community

By Tim Samoff, chairman of the Hildon Foundation Board.

Dear Maemo Community,

As long-time supporters and contributors -- and, in all humility, quite
honored to be counted among all of you -- we, the inaugural Hildon
Foundation Board felt it necessary that we put forth an open, public
statement about how we feel the "Board" should be considered and engaged
with.

At this point, the first Board meeting minutes have been published for
public review. As we hope you'll see, it is nothing but the Maemo
Community's best interests that we are concerned with.

Meet the new (Q4 2012) Maemo Community Council!

Based on historic review, the following seems to be the only viable option for this process.

After confirming with the [election rules][1], and [historic precedent][2], the case for five [Maemo Community Council][3] candidates seems to be very clear.  The case for five is a "no election" scenario, granting the candidates full Council-ship.

This being said, it brings me great pleasure to announce the new, Q4 2012 Maemo Community Council:

* [Alexander Kozhevnikov / Mentalist Traceur][4]
* [Iván Gálvez Junquera / ivgalvez][5]
* [Joerg Reisenweber / joerg_rw][6]

Self nomination for maemo community council.

Hi,

I want to help. That's it. I've been trying to squeeze my head to
think of a candidate declaration but I don't think I can come up with
one.

Re: [HFB] Some thoughts concerning "rules of engagement" that fall outside of the Bylaws document...

This is exactly why I put such wording in our current bylaws. :) Though again: IANAL, and the way it is legally interpreted my or may not hold up to scrutiny if challenged. Regardless, the first meeting with the Directors and incorporators will have to be via audio conference as they bylaws are not yet in place to create said exception, if we can do so at all.

As noted by Estel, it may be feasible to negotiate and converse via IRC, and then do a quick audio conference to confirm the summary of the items so they are legally actionable.

Some thoughts concerning "rules of engagement" that fall outside of the Bylaws document...

Hi everyone,

After recently being elected to the Hildon Foundation Board (HFB), I've
been doing a lot of thinking concerning how the Board should interact
with the Maemo Community... I have listed some of my thoughts below.

Feel free to debate, critique, or add to what I have listed.

===
* While individual Board members are free to interact with the Maemo
Community on a personal/contributor level, the Board itself should
attempt to remain "removed" from community minutiae.

Board Election Results and Council Election Cycle Update

The [results of the Hildon Foundation Board elections, Q4 2012][1] are now official.  Congratulations to all involved, and many thanks to the community for their support and their vote.

Please keep in mind that the Council election cycle is still going!  Nominations continue through the 28th, and voting will occur the first week of November!  There are currently four standing candidates for Council.

Board Elections and Council Nominations

For those who haven't been following along with [the discussion][1]:

* Board elections have started, and will close on October 18th.
* Council nominations have re-opened and been extended until October 28th.

The [election thread][2] has all the details, including the new time tables.  Thanks again to MisterC for creating the [candidate declaration wiki page][3], and to Andrew for helping with clarifications and nomination validation on the [community mailing list][4].

Extension of Maemo Council Nomination period

As per a clarification of miscommunication within the Council, I am happy to announce the following:

As Council Chair, I'm declaring Council nominations to be retroactively re-opened until October 28th, and voting will occur for Council from November 2nd through the 8th. I encourage others to consider their own nomination for Council as well.

As for a decision on the process going forward with the Board, that's still in debate at the moment internally. To date no election has been started. I am hopeful that will be clarified soon.

In case it's ultimately decided to accept this: late self-nomination

For those who don't know, I'm Mentalist Traceur on the forums. My user
account on the remainder of the maemo.org site is mtraceur. After
considering the comments that have grown in the last day and a half or

it seems to me that it would be best (although I might regret
mentioning it again if it leads to even more quarreling) to throw my
self-nomination into here.

Nomination of joerg_rw/DocScrutinizer for Maemo Council

Hi all

We really need volunteers to join the Council in this term as the migration
to self administrated infrastructure and adaptation of our resources to the
newly created Hildon Foundation is not going to be easy.

I'd like to nominate Joerg Reisenweber
(joerg_rw<http://talk.maemo.org/member.php?u=35572>at TMO and
maemo.org member <http://maemo.org/profile/view/joerg_rw/>), also known as
DocScrutinizer on IRC, for Maemo Council election.

He's a very well known member of the community since really long time,
strong Maemo advocate and brilliant developer.

I hope he accepts the nomination as

self nomination for Hildon board and Maemo council

I'm known as nieldk at TMO and I'm currently member of the Maemo Council. I
joined this community just after receiving my N900, and I started to
participate in it when development for mobile backtrac started.

Self nomination for Hildon Community Board

I'm Woody14619 on TMO and currently a member of the Maemo Council.

During my last run for Council, my stated intention was to increase the visibility and transparency of the operation of Council. During my term, I saw to it that there were weekly open meetings with minutes presented to the community on the Council blog (usually in a timely fashion).

Self nomination for Hildon Community Board and Maemo Council

Hi all,

I'm known as ivgalvez at TMO and I'm currently member of the Maemo Council.
I joined this community in September 2011, just after receiving my N900,
and I started to participate in it, with a passion and interest I haven't
felt before in any other open source community I knew.

As current Council Member, I feel that I have the responsibility to help
finishing the transition process to a self sustained NFP entity that we
have started.

Last Call for Council Nominations And Bylaw Review

The nomination period for Council and the Board of the new Foundation are ending in [just under 48 hours][1].  To date we have had NO submissions for Council and only two for the Board.  If there's no interest in keeping Maemo.org going, ignore this and it very well may go away.

Also, what may be the final version of the bylaws ([version 5][2]) has been posted on the TMO thread where there's been a lively discussion going on.  For those involved in that, thank you.  For those who would like to check them out and comment, please hit the link.

Like my good friend Tim Samoff, I am submitting myself as a candidate for the
Hildon Foundation board.

Those who know me are familiar with my qualifications.  For those who don't,
here's a synopsis:

- Former Nokia quality engineer for early Maemo devices
- Prominent member of N800 launch team
- Early member of Internet Tablet Talk and maemo.org; helped develop community

Hello Maemo Community!

While I've been silent on the mailing list and TMO for a while, I've
continued to lurk and participate in other venues like Twitter and
Facebook. In fact, I still submit Maemo news to mwkn.net often.

But, that's all moot in my mind.

Most of you who know me will hopefully agree that I am passionate,
dedicated, hard working member who has put countless time and effort
into the Maemo cause.
