CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel SAN Target

For quite some time I’ve been using FreeNAS to provide services as a NAS over ethernet and SAN over Fibre Channel to CentOS 7 servers each using their own export, not sharing the same one.

It’s time for me to replace my hardware and I have a new R720XD that I’d like to use in the same capacity but configure CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel target rather than use FreeNAS any further.

I’m doing virtualization and this will allow me to have failover from one node to the other since they’ll all be sharing the same export rather than me simply backing up to the FreeNAS server the way I am now.

grub.cfg

I ran into something with a recent batch of updates on CentOS 7. It seems that possibly one of the kernel updates running dracut changed all of the volume groups in the grub.cfg file making the system unable to boot until I manually edited each line putting it back to the way it was originally. My volume group is called vg_h1 but it changed them all to the default “centos”.

Is there a config somewhere I need to edit so this never happens again?

Understanding an error

I’m using pflogsumm to analyze my log daily. I’m consistently seeing one in particular.

I can see the error in the log when manually checking but don’t know how to interpret or fix it. Advice?

message discard detail: none

smtp delivery failures: none

Warnings

smtpd (total: 5119)

2750 199.249.188.1: address not listed for hostname phxhosting.net

I understand the other warnings, just not this one.

That IP is the router. The reverse on it is correct but the forward is not there.

Users and Groups

Has anyone seen a plugin for MySQL that will allow you to set up users and
groups for access where you can have a user who can login, create db etc but
ONLY see the stuff that belongs to them?

I'm speaking of a shared server where multiple people can use the same
instance but be fully separated just like a file share.

Thanks,

Returning years of data by month

Looking for suggestions on how to best pull some data.

I need to do some calcs but pull the data by year and month to make a
table like such.

2012 2013 2014
Jan $243 $567 $890
Feb $123 $456 $908
Mar Š Š Š
Apr
May
Š

I can get the data to be ordered by year, month but as you know that is
not easily conducive to putting it into an HTML table without some middle
ware storing and iterating through found sets.

Suggestions?

Header Checks

I have a filter like this:

/^Subject:.*viagra/ DISCARD

BUT is it possible to filter by

User AND Subject?

/^To: ... at doe dot com/ AND /^Subject:.*viagra/ DISCARD

Thanks,

Postfix and Gmail

Clearly this list is for postfix related issues which I do use regularly
but there is a great deal of respected expertise here and am hoping
someone will have come across this before.

I¹ve run into an issue with a postfix server I set up for a friend when
connecting to Gmail.

Postfix Repos

I asked this under a thread but am asking again in its own thread to see
if I get better visibility.

Does anyone know of any good bleeding edge postfix repos?

I am using whatever the CentOS distros come with and it appears to be an
older version.

I¹d like to look into some of the newer features available like postscreen
in place of postgrey.

Thanks

451 4.3.5 Server configuration problem

I am working with a server that has CentOS 5 which uses Virtualmin to
configure the server. I run a similar configuration with no issues. When
DocuSign sends us a message, the maillog has this in it:

Oct 29 12:09:32 saguarogold postfix/smtpd[10387]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT
from mailch.docusign.net[206.25.247.155]: 451 4.3.5 Server configuration
problem; from=< ... at docusign dot net> to=< ... at goldsavings dot com> proto=ESMTP
helo=<mailch.docusign.net>

Odd thing is that an identical server which has Eudora Internet Mail
Server on it, receives similar emails from them fine.

Random Code Stored Procedure

Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, I was wondering if anyone might
have a stored procedure already for what I want to do.

I want to start with 4 characters using any unique combo and when all
unique matches are used, it will move to 5 characters and so on.

For example in any random order:

AAAA
AAAB
...
ZZZZ
AAAAA
...
ZZZZZ
AAAAAA
...
ZZZZZZ

The codes would be validated for a dupe against an existing column which
this will seed called "code".

Mail Encoding

I am not sure where the fault in this lies.

When using my iPhone and emailing through postfix to an Exchange server
and Outlook client, a simple message like "Please call me" comes up in
Outlook as "2+\pz(!޵)hθvjy2yڜ"

I then resend the same message from the same iPhone via a different
Exchange server (rather that my postfix server) to the same recipient
scenario and the message is received correctly. I am not sure where to go.

Suggestions on what to look for or how to track this down?

Thanks

mod rewrite

I am trying to figure out a specific rewrite.

I have a default host set up to catch any domains not served on the
specific server.

I am trying to direct unknown domains in a manner such as :

default domain would be domain.com

So, abc.com hits, it would be rewritten to

<a href="http://domain.com?domain=abc.com" title="http://domain.com?domain=abc.com">http://domain.com?domain=abc.com</a>

or

<a href="http://domain.com/abc-com/" title="http://domain.com/abc-com/">http://domain.com/abc-com/</a>

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Spam filtering

I am using postfix with Virtualmin and am trying to follow numerous
tutorials on spam prevention/handling.
