Unity For Fedora (As in OpenSUSE or Arch)

I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but a user managed to
port Ubuntu's Unity to OpenSUSE 12.1 as you can see here:

<a href="http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GNOME_Ayatana" title="http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GNOME_Ayatana">http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GNOME_Ayatana</a>

And also I've been told this desktop is available for
ArchLinux now as well...

Just Patched Kmess 2.0.6.1 :)

(Cross Posting both to the Developers and Users List, sent a copy to
Rex Dieter, who I believe is the maintainer for Kmess in the Fedora
Community)

Hi, as you might have noticed in the last few days (if you are a kmess user)
the kmess client that ships with Fedora 15 and Fedora 16 was affected by a
bug that won't let the user see it's contact list when connecting into Kmess
just after starting it's session.

I was really annoyed by this bug because I use kmess really often, so I've
looked in the Kmess forums for a patch, downloaded the lastest kmess source
from fedora's repositories and built

for Jokosher 0.11.5 (F15 noarch)

Hi there Fedora People!!

One of my biggest passions in life is audio editing, so when I started using
Linux I found this friendly (yet powerful) audio editor called "Jokosher".
When I
installed Fedora 15, I realized that jokosher wasn't added to the F15 repos
and I missed it a lot, so I built an RPM using the lastest source code the
jokosher developers have on their website:

<a href="http://www.jokosher.org/" title="http://www.jokosher.org/">http://www.jokosher.org/</a>

and now I want to share it with you guys, so if someone wants to
add it to the official repos that might be awesome, the download
links are down here:

Need Little IT advice Here...

Hi, I was Wondering if there was a tool for Linux in general
that let me undo the system changes at reboot or something
like that, For example:

I want to set a standard configuration in a machine and then
let that machine to be used by many users, but as soon as
the user Log Out (preferably in that moment)
I want the machine to undo all the possible
changes the user may have done while he/she was using it.

I've seen this behavior on Windows Machines in Schools and Offices,
and I know it has something to do about a server controlling all the
individual computers but I want to apply that behav

RPM's For ClipGrab

Hi!

Today I found Fedora Specific RPM packages for ClipGrab, a GUI tool for
Downloading
Youtube Videos. The thing is, the binary file that the original developers
give away
for general linux use didn't work for me and I wasn't able to compile it by
source,
so I went to RPMFind but didn't found anything...

BTRFS: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Today I'll be switching from BTRFS to Ext4 again because of the troubles
I've been having with
the New Linux Filesystem.

Just wanted to share... (Calyphrox 4.0)

Hi fedora users!

Today is a very important day for me because the new version of one
of my web projects has been released, it's name is Calyphrox and is
a webproxy that is powered by Google App Engine. Calyphrox let you
to anonimyze your web browsing, by filtering your real information; By
using calyphrox you browse the web like you're on a Google Computer
with Google's IP and data, not yours. it also has a encrypted connection
feature and full compatibility with most pages.

Solving all the KDE 4.5 Problems

I've been reading a lot of threads in this list of users complaining about
KDE 4.5, (specially of 4.5.3) Well, I've been using KDE 4.5 for some time
now (even before it was officially on F13) and I do not have any problems
you're
talking about, follow my advice in order to solve this errors and tell me if
KDE has
a different behavior:

1.- Update your system with a "sudo yum -y update"

2.- Reset your KDE Settings by erasing the ".kde" folder inside your home
directory (it's hidden)

3.- Turn Off Desktop Effects

4.- Reboot the PC

5.- With the new clean setting of KDE now you can work without

Another Question About Webcams in F13

Hi!

As I said before, the last webcam I bought was useless it was not Linux
fault.
I went to the Steren Shop and they changed it to me for another webcam, this
time
the COM-105 one, wich uses other USB Driver and works perfectly with Cheese
by just plugging it.

The cam also works with my Windows 7 VM very well, but I have a New problem:

In the webcam features, it says the cam has a 5MP resolution interpolated,
but in
the instructions it says the cam has a 1.3 MP Resolution, wich is really
poor for what
I wanna do.

¿How can I reach that 5MP Resolution in Linux?

Steren Webcam

Hi! I've just bought a STEREN COM-111 Webcam and it do not work with

Thanks!

Kmess massive Faliure

Attention!!

Kmess 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 are having massive faliures all around the world,
at least in this week I've noticed other 4 faliure cases beside mine here at
México
in different distributions, different architechtures and different desktop
enviroments.

For the moment I'm using emesene, but this kind of faliure seems very
strange.

Hope someone fixes it.

Chromium Codecs Problem...

Hi! as many of you may know, Chromium is having problems
inside fedora with youtube's HTML 5 Video, see, when I want to
play a HTML 5 Video in youtube, this message comes out:

"Your browser does not correctly recognize any of the video formats
available"

in ubuntu-debian based distros the problem gets solved by installing the
"chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-nonfree" package, but this one is not available in
fedora, at least not with that name.

¿Can someone tell me the name of this package in Fedora 13?

Thanks!

Intel GMA 3100 Card in fedora 13

Hello,
Humm I have a question... I've been trying out many distros in my computer
by LiveCD's and all of them (Mandriva, OpenSUSE, Kubuntu just to give some
examples) are fully compatible with my Intel GMA 3100 card (I can say that
because their KDE Desktops are totally Transparent) But in my Fedora 13 I
can't get a Transparent KDE Even if I enable Kwin effects (Wich make
computer slow btw) and if I wanna run Windows 7 inside VMware player I can't
get Aero working because (as vmware says) The system doesn't have 3D
Graphics support or something like that...
