Logwatch inconsistency

Hi all,
In my logwatch config I clearly state only too report on Yesterday.
The funny thing is that in the MailScanner section the number of mails
scanned is different thant th number reported in the postfix section to
be put on hold.
Ik I grep the Requeue statements in the MailScanner logfile this is
exactly the same number as the scan result of Hold in the postfix
logfile and is equal to the number reported by logwatch in the
MailScanner section.
How come postfix reports a lot more being put on hold than the real
There is at least some inconsistency in there.

What's upholding the new clamav?

My clamav is complaining that the version is outdated. There is a new one
0.100 but epel is not updating the rpm.
Why is there a delay?

I get this error message:
ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Connection refused

It does not say connection to what, ??????
And is this a matter of permission???
This is C7 latest and greatest.
Any ideas???

Alsa pulseaudio & procmail

I'm using a program called morse to generate morse code signals when mail
is received. This is done by calling this program depending on de subject
or from of the incoming mail.
THis worked fine on CentOS 6 but since I'm using CentOS 7 it does nt work
In my procmail logging I get:
ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Connection refused

Can't access speaker.

Normal listening to streams on the Internet works fine, the program morse
itself works fine, but runningit from procmail fails.
Any ideas?

Relocation of logfiles in logwatch

I try to teach logwatch that some of my logfiles are relocated. E.g.,
mail mailog now lives in mail/info and secure has moved too auth/info.
I adjusted /etc/logwatch/conf/logfiles/SERVICE.conf accordingly but
logwatch does not understand.
What is the right way to adapt logwatch to the new reality?

Re: [CentOS] Gnome weather applet stranded

NOAA moved the url on which you can get the data.
I use clweather, a little command-line util, I just change the URL in the
sourcecode and it worked again.
The move happen a couple of weeks ago.
The new URL to point the application to is:
<a href="" title=""></a>

Good luck & 73,

Rsyslog on C7

I have problems with rsyslog on C7.
In /etc/rsyslog.d/iptables.conf I have:
# Log all iptables stuff separately
:msg, contains, "iptables: " {
action(type="omfile" file="/var/log/iptraf/info")

THis works fine.
In /etc/rsyslog.d/mail.conf I have:
# Log all the mail messages in one place.
if ($syslogfacility-text == 'mail') then {
action(type="omfile" file="/var/log/mail/info")

This does not work, neither does a line like:
mail.* /var/log/mail/info

if I put that in /etc/rsyslog.conf.
What am I doing wrong???
Here is my /etc/rsyslog.conf:
# rsyslog

Rsyslog problems

My rsyslog is not working as expected.
I have some thing in rsyslog.d that do well, like this:
# Log all iptables stuff separately
:msg, contains, "iptables: " {
action(type="omfile" file="/var/log/iptraf/info")

No problems with that.
Bu what's in /etc/rsyslog.conf like:
mail.* /var/log/mail/info

don't do anything at all.
Rsyslogd -N1 is OK, rsyslogd -D -N1 looks good too as does
rsyslogd -d -N1.
Here is my rsyslog.conf.
What am I doing wrong?
# rsyslog configuration file

# For more information see /usr/share/doc/rsyslog-*/rsyslog_conf.html
# If you experience problems, see

CentOS7 wireless config on command line on asus

Hi all,
I'm trying to configure wireless on my Asus laptop running CentOS7.
I see wlan0 when I type iw dev, but if I type
ip link set wlan0 up
I get the following error:
RTNETLINK answers: Operation not possible due to RF-kill

Any idea what is wrong??

Question on booting other kernel

In CentOS6 I do:
echo "savedefault --default=0 --once" | grub --batch

My question is how do I do the same on CentOS7?
Any ideas?

Re: [CentOS] [CentOS} Does anyone use tcp_wrappers?

Most certainly YES!!!
Next to iptables tcp_wrappers is a solid seconde line of defense.
The argument that is is no longer developped is rubbish.
The package does what is should do, functionality isexactly what it
should be and it is bug free.
Also it is flexible enough to do other tricks with it like spawning
something depending on the ip address the incoming connection is coming
It is a great product thanks to Wietse Venemaand others who integrated it
to e.g. ssh.
Dont drop it please!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: [CentOS] MIssing bell

Earlier I asked how I could arrange a bell tone on my CentOS box.
I have pcspkr loaded, I can play music over my boxes but the system beep
or bell is missing.
Seeveral people commented on gnome issues, but I'm using only text-mode.
Whe I go down with the cursor e.g. on the command-line I dont hear
anything. Is there a way to switch the bell/beep on???

Missing terminal bell

After I started using my new desktop I miss my terminal bell.
Yes, pcspkr is loaded, yes, sound works fine.
BUt the terminal beep is missing.
Any hints?

It apperas the the default /etc/sysctl.conf coming with the distribution
gives a couple of errors on bridgen.
Any hints???
