Orphaning rubygem-{journey,rbovirt}

Hello,

rubygem-journey - This package is dead upstream (actually it was
subsumed into Ruby on Rails) and nothing depends on it in Fedora.

rubygem-rbovirt - Nothing depends on this package in Fedora and I have
no other use for it.

documentation. Nevertheless, it has been long replaced by Antora.

Orhpaning rubygem-binding_of_caller

I have orphaned rubygem-binding_of_caller. The package was initially
introduced into Fedora as a dependency of rubygem-web-console, which
migrated off binding_of_caller later.

SOURCE_DATE_EPOCH environment variable set in rpmbuild

I just want to give heads up that today, my PR [1] allowing to set
SOURCE_DATE_EPOCH environment variable during build of RPM was merged
into redhat-rpm-config. This means that some packages might have a bit
more reproducible builds.

This was triggered by this ticket [2] and subsequent discussion on
Ruby-SIG ML [3].

Updating Rawhide vs GPG keys

Hi,

Can somebody please enlighten me, how to update Rawhide after branching
and not using --nogpgcheck?

It seems that Rawhide keys were added in fedora-repos-30-0.4. So this is
the package which is still "rawhide" package and has "f31" keys. But
this package was not probably signed, because this directory is empty:

<a href="https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/fedora-repos/30/0.4/data/signed/" title="https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/fedora-repos/30/0.4/data/signed/">https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/fedora-repos/30/0.4/data/sig...</a>

Installing anything from Rawhide fails, because of missing GPG keys.

So is there a way to get the GPG keys via DNF?

What pulls in weak dependencies?

Hi,

Running `dnf update`, it tries to install:

~~~
... snip ...
Installing weak dependencies:
 mkpasswd                        x86_64 5.4.1-3.fc31
rawhide                 39 k
...
Builders with different Mock version and different results
I wonder why different builders has different version of mock and why
the build result differs?
The scratch build passes:
<a href="https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=33303459" title="https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=33303459">https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=33303459</a>
While the official fails:
<a href="https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=33303270" title="https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=33303270">https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=33303270</a>
Also, I wonder what is this "BUILDSTDERR:" I don't think the output goes
to stderr nor it makes the output more readable :/
Orphaning Fog (most of rubygem-fog* packages)
Hi,
I have orphaned most of the Fog stack [1, 2]. Fog is the Ruby cloud
services library, top to bottom, collections provide a simplified
interface, making clouds easier to work with and switch between.
Fog was originally introduced into Fedora just as a dependency of
Vagrant.
Orphaned rubygem-fakeweb
Hi everybody,
rubygem-fakeweb used to be part of Ruby on Rails dependency chain, but
it is not anymore. Therefore I am going to orphan the package.
The package is not well maintained upstream and there are better
maintained packages such as webmock.
Orphaned rubygem-rails-observers
Hi all,
This package used to be part of Ruby on Rails, later it was removed from
the framework and extracted into independent gem mainly for backward
compatibility. This package is FTBFS ATM, presumably since Ruby on Rails
5.2 were imported into F29, because there is one test failure. Upstream
does not bother to fix this issue and because I don't have any use for
this package, I just orphaned it.
CMake Error: No source or binary directory provided
Hi,
It seems that since CMake 3.13, it is required to invoke the cmake
command explicitly with path to source, which was not required
previously.
Vagrant dependencies updated in Rawhide
Hi Vagrant users,
If you are using Vagrant together with libvirt backend (default on
Fedora), please be warned that today, I have updated fog-libvirt
(dependency of vagrant-libvrit) and its dependencies in Rawhide. Because
fog upstream is currently a bit of a mess, where some major
sub-components are not compatible between each other, it might be that I
missed something and Vagrant might not work for you anymore.
fedora-package purpose and future
Hi,
I am wondering what is the purpose of fedora-packager package and what
is its future? It seems to be abandoned upstream as well as in Fedora
[1, 2, 3, 4]. This is a bit unfortunate considering this is package
every Fedora packager has to have installed. Is there a chance to give
that package a bit of love?
Unannounced soname bump in libevent
It appears that yesterday build of libevent bumped its soname. That
means that, at minimum, Memcahed is broken now.
BTW it is well possible, that the packager did not noticed the soname
bump, since the libraries are included into package by wildcards in
files section [1].
rubygem-file-tail license change
Which Fedora/EPEL is targeted by packaging guidelines?
Hi all,
Reading logs from yesterdays FPC meeting [1], I think we should discuss
what is actually purpose of packaging guidelines and which version of
Fedora/EPEL/RHEL they actually targets.
Apparently, there are two camps of packagers in Fedora/EPEL. Those who want:
1) single version of .spec file to cover the whole Red Hat ecosystem.
2) clean .spec file following the latest and greatest packaging practices.
I personally belong to the group (2) and that is for several reasons:
a) I use Rawhide on daily basis and I develop only for Rawhide.
Orphaning rubygem-logging
Hi all,
I don't have any use for rubygem-logging, so I orphaned the package.
