Where to define GRUB_DEFAULT

Hi,

where do I define GRUB_DEFAULT? /etc/default/grub sounds like "this is
the defaults, change it somewhere else". I read somewhere about
/etc/defaults/grub.d/ which does not exist. /etc/grub.d/ esists but
seems to be something else.

So where would I specify e.g. GRUB_DEFAULT?

Thank you!

Can't contact LDAP server

Hello all,

I'm doing SSO using auth_kerb_module with Active Directory and
authnz_ldap_module as fallback (Apache 2.4, FreeBSD 11.1, Windows Server
2012R2):

PassEnv MACHINE_DNSNAME
PassEnv MACHINE_DOMAINNAME_UPPER

ldap-status and <IfModule mod_ldap>

Hello all,

I have the following snippet:

<IfModule mod_ldap>
<Location /ldap-status>
SetHandler ldap-status
</Location>
</IfModule>

This does not work, /ldap-status is not found. If I change to e.g.

<IfModule mod_authnz_ldap>

it does.

Trust my own packages

Hi,

I created a few packages using

dpkg-buildpackage

and uploaded them to my ftp server.

mod_proxy, ProxyPreserveHost, multiple host headers, mod_rewrite

Hi,

I want to use apache as proxy for multiple web sites. So far, so good:

ProxyPass /app2 <a href="http://app2/" title="http://app2/">http://app2/</a>
ProxyPassReverse /app2 <a href="http://app2/" title="http://app2/">http://app2/</a>
ProxyPass / <a href="http://app1/" title="http://app1/">http://app1/</a>
ProxyPassReverse / <a href="http://app1/" title="http://app1/">http://app1/</a>

The problem is that "app1" needs "ProxyPreserveHost on" while app2
needs it "off".

I found <a href="http://www.debian-administration.org/users/lee/weblog/25" title="http://www.debian-administration.org/users/lee/weblog/25">http://www.debian-administration.org/users/lee/weblog/25</a> but
wasn't able to get that working on 2.2. Should it work with 2.2?

If not would it work with mod_rewrite?

Can't get rid of precise-proposed

Hi,

I played around with sources.list and added an entry for
precise-proposed. After understanding "proposed" I removed the entry.
But I'm still offered proposed packages.

update-motd not updating /etc/motd after LTS upgrade

Hi,

I have a few scripts within /etc/update-motd.d/, e.g.

#!/bin/sh
unset PATH
/usr/bin/printf "%s\n%s\n\n" "Uptime/Load:" "$(/usr/bin/uptime)"

While on 10.04 and on a fresh installation of 12.04 this script works
fine, on two upgraded machines from 10.04 to 12.04 /etc/motd is not
updated. If I remove /etc/motd (/var/run/motd) it is not even
re-created at all.

What can I futher check?

Thanks, Helmut

IfModule *rewrite*

Hi,

I put the following lines into my apache.conf (outside, before a VHOST
definition):

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteLog /var/www/logs/rewrite.log
RewriteLogLevel 2
</IfModule>

(I also tried mod_rewrite and rewrite_module)

Unfortunatly it seems it does not work.

But if I define the same lines within a VHOST it *does* work.

Why? Anything obvious?

Server default vhost

Hi,

let's say I have a webserver named <a href="http://www.domain.tld" title="www.domain.tld">www.domain.tld</a> at IP 192.168.0.1.
That server serves <a href="http://www.domain.tld" title="http://www.domain.tld">http://www.domain.tld</a>.

Now I want to have another VHOST serving <a href="http://192.168.0.1" title="http://192.168.0.1">http://192.168.0.1</a> (the
DEFAULT VHOST e.g.

ProxyPass per IP/Net

Hi,

is it possible to serve certain resources by IP/Net? Like bind's
views[1]? I'm ProxyPass'ing content and would like to serve different
content for external and internal users.
