partition table

Sir/Madam

I was switching a RAID disk over to Ubuntu 16.04 Server

The RAID is attached via a LSI SAS 9280-8e card

When I go into webBIOS then it appears the virtual drive is working ok

But when the system boots and I try to access the partition

all I see is

unrecognised disk label

so I guess I am asking how to recover the disk label

I do not want to lose the data on the raid drive

Any help advice would be sincerely appreciated

Can I attach a new terminal window to a running process ?

Sir/Madam

I have a user with a process running that they have lost the terminal
window to

This process is awaiting some input, which must be typed
dkg 22533 1 99 May 14 ? 3-15:11:42 ./exp1 -o exp1

Is there a way I can open another terminal window and attach to this process

It is important that the user observes the output of the original
process (22533 in this particular case)

syslog contains a whole lot of ^@

Sir/Madam

I have Ubuntu box that runs Ubuntu 14:04

lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
Release: 14.04
Codename: trusty

18:27:15 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

However it is only booting up correct on the odd occasion.

When it fails it does seem pingable and nmap says port 22 is open but it
will not allow ssh

ssh -v

But even as root when I issue the ulimit -a command I get

ulimit: Command not found.

Any idea why this is so and howto fix it would be sincerely appreciated

ATI FirePro 2450 card and ubuntu 14.04

Sir/Madam

I currently have installed an ATI FirePro 2450 card into a machine
running Ubuntu 14.04

However it appears that only 3 of the 4 outputs are active.

I believe that Ubuntu 14.04 is currently utilizing the default nouveau
drivers

When I tried to install the ATI drivers all I received where blank screens.

Does anyone have experience of getting all four ports on the 2450
working (with 14.04) ?

Or can anyone recommend a 4 port graphic card that does work with 14.04

Thanking you

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 & AMD FirePro™ 2270

Pete/Colin

Thanks for reply

To answer questions

I checked the install media and no faults were found.
Which,, since I have utilized this usb stick, several times, to
successful install 14.04 ; is what I would expect.

When machine boots to the grub menu

If you select ubuntu

you see
one line I have forgotten
then
loading initial ram disk

then the screen goes blank

pressing cntrl-alt-2 gets me nothing
(I had tried that althou forgot to say so, sorry)

also pressing esc shows nothing on screen

So I have no idea how to load the new driver

Is there a way to add it to the install medium

Ubuntu 14.04 & AMD FirePro™ 2270

Sir/Madam

I am trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 onto my desktop.

My desktop contains an AMD FirePro™ 2270

I have Scientific Linux 6.5 working on this machine no problems

My usb install sticks works
When I boot to it and test Ubuntu 14.04 it works ok

However after the install (on which no errors are reported)

I select Ubuntu 14.04
It says
Loading initial RAM disk

then the machine goes blank

I did find this

<a href="http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Latest-LINUX-Beta-Driver.aspx" title="http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Latest-LINUX-Beta-Driver.aspx">http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Latest-LINUX-Beta-Driver....</a>

Out of which you get this

auto.home in 14.04

Sir/Madam

I am have some trouble getting auto.home to work in ubuntu 14.04

My home directories are nfs exported.

In 12.04 I created an auto.home and added that to auto.master

However that does not work in 14.04.

I did have problems with nfs mounts also which I solved with

<a href="https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-an-nfs-mount-on-ubuntu-14-04" title="https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-an-nfs-mount-on-ubuntu-14-04">https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-an-nfs-mo...</a>

However this does not solve my auto.home issue

Therefore any help on how to mount my home space would be sincerely
appreciated.

Thanking you.

apache2 web server

Sir/Madam

I am trying to setup an Apache2 web server on Ubuntu 12.04

I can get a default web page to work ok

But I cannot get VirtualHosts to work
Well at least that is what I believe to be the case.

When I define my virtual hosts in
/etc/apache2/sites-available

I then run a2ensite on that site-name

In /etc/apache2/sites-enabled it creates the correct link

However when I then try to visit the site I see error messages

File does not exist: /var/www/qwert

But in /etc/apache2/sites-available/qwert there is a line

DocumentRoot /home/qwert

So why does it look in /var/www/qwert
