Are you based in Europe? Are you comfortable presenting in a booth? Do
you have technical development skills that you can show off in a demo
using Fedora?

I have an opportunity for you to help me with a booth at Build Stuff in
Lithuania (<a href="http://buildstuff.lt/" title="http://buildstuff.lt/">http://buildstuff.lt/</a>)

The audience is typically interested in things like DevOps, CI/CD,
Ansible, IoT.

*Package Management Devroom at FOSDEM ‘18*

On Saturday 3rd February FOSDEM will host its first devroom dedicated to
the subject of package management at [ULB](<a href="http://www.ulb.ac.be/" title="http://www.ulb.ac.be/">http://www.ulb.ac.be/</a>).
*Topic*

As this is the first time we’re hosting a package management devroom we
want you to bring your own take.

FOSDEM 2018 - Distributions Devroom Call for Participation

Hi All,

The Distributions Devroom CFP has opened at FOSDEM.

Flock Bidding still open - don't forget

Flock bidding for Europe is still open. The new easier bid process is
described here:

<a href="https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/flock-2018-bidding-open/" title="https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/flock-2018-bidding-open/">https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/flock-2018-bidding-open/</a>

The process is lightweight and designed to help you move forward with a
proposal quickly. You start by answering some basic questions about
what you're suggesting.

We are extending the deadline to November 12, 2017. Part of the
selection committee have travel commitments at the beginning of November
so it is silly to have a deadline that will result in everything waiting
two weeks anyway.

Flock 2018 Bidding Open

The new streamlined bidding process for Flock 2018 is now open. See the
community blog post here:

<a href="https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/flock-2018-bidding-open/" title="https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/flock-2018-bidding-open/">https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/flock-2018-bidding-open/</a>

for all the details. The process has been made simpler to encourage
more bidding.

regards,

The Flock Bid Committee

DevConf CfP Open

conference for developers, admins, DevOps engineers, testers,
documentation writers and other contributors to Open Source Linux,

FLOSS communities sync, share, and hack on upstream projects together in
the beautiful city of Brno, Czech Republic.

CfP is NOW OPEN! Ready to submit your proposal?

FLOCK UPDATE - funding, tickets, and more

This email is being sent to devel@, flock-planning@, and
flock-attendees-2017@ for visibility. I apologize if you receive it
multiple times.

# Action Required: Read below carefully to determine if you need to take
an action

## Registration

We will be placing final food orders and other attendee count related
items this week and next week.

Flock Funding Decisions

Flock funding decisions will begin being released this week. Please do
not ask, irc, email, telegram, smoke signal, etc. anyone about the
status of your decision or about when decisions will be released.
Everytime someone interrupts the funding committee (or me when I am
processing the requests) it slows the whole system down. We understand
that you have various time pressures and would like answers. Please
understand that we are working on this as hard as we can and are not
ignoring you.

As you know, we cannot afford to fund everyone.

Flock Funding/CfP Update - Non-presenters and presenters

Hi All,

= Funding Update - Non Presenters =
The council changed the funding model for this year's Flock and
presenting a session is not required to get funded. We were serious
about this :). If you haven't already done so, get yourself registered
and put in any funding request you have by Friday. We will begin making
funding decisions as early as tomorrow. The sooner you get into the
list the greater your chances.

= CfP Update =
Tomorrow morning, EU time, acceptances for the first 55 accepted
submissions will go out.

! GSoC Ideas

Hi All,

As you may know we have successfully submitted a Google Summer of Code
application this year. While we won't know until 27 February if we are
accepted, we still have work to do!

<a href="https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Summer_coding_ideas_for_2017" title="https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Summer_coding_ideas_for_2017">https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Summer_coding_ideas_for_2017</a>

This page needs some ideas. A good idea includes:

- project title
- a few sentences about the project
- required/recommended skills
- mentors

Google has specifically contacted us and asked us to add more ideas so
they can better gauge our desire to be selected for the program.

Fedora and Google Summer of Code

+BCC to devel for one-time visibility

Hi All,

Fedora is putting the final touches on its Google Summer of Code (GSoC)
application. We need your help to flesh out the project ideas and
mentors list. As in the past, they are being collected on the Fedora
Wiki:

<a href="https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Summer_coding_ideas_for_2017" title="https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Summer_coding_ideas_for_2017">https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Summer_coding_ideas_for_2017</a>

If you are up for the responsibility of mentoring someone and would like
to try to find an intern via GSoC I encourage you to consider doing so
under the Fedora umbrella if your own project is not directly
participating.

Self Introduction: Brian Exelbierd

Packaging is an important Fedora Contributor activity and so far I
haven't joined that part of the party. Today I have changed that by
submitting my first package review request:

DayJournal - <a href="https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1409884" title="https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1409884">https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1409884</a>

DayJournal is a Linux desktop application compatible with some other
journal software I use so I am going to add it to Fedora for others.

I have been active in several other areas of the project with my current
focus being on budgeting, documentation and my work as the Fedora
Community Action and Impact Coordinator.

Latest Atomic Host OSTree

Hi,

Where do we document the timestamp/hash for the latest available OSTree
so I can verify that I am fully updated? I am trying to determine if I
am running the latest tree or if the machine I am using is having
trouble seeing the repo.

Thank you.

FOSDEM 2017 - Distributions Devroom - Extended

FOSDEM 2017 - Distributions Devroom Call for Participation (new
deadline)

The Distributions devroom will take place 4 February, 2017 at FOSDEM, in
room K.4.601 at Université Libre de Bruxelles, in Brussels, Belgium.

Distributions are more than just hosted collections of software from
various
upstreams. Each distribution is responsible for problem-solving in
building,
testing, and releasing software as well as managing the lifecycle of
each
application in the collection.

Wiki Correction?

On this page: <a href="https://wiki.centos.org/Cloud/AWS" title="https://wiki.centos.org/Cloud/AWS">https://wiki.centos.org/Cloud/AWS</a> <https://wiki.centos.org/Cloud/AWS>

Should this line, "All images have root logins which are enabled only via a ssh key." actually reference the fact that login is accomplished via the userid "centos" ?

I'll fix it, if so. If not, then it must be from my use case.

Make Atomic Host Downloads more Visible

I believe we should list the Atomic Host downloads more clearly on these pages:

<a href="https://wiki.centos.org/Download" title="https://wiki.centos.org/Download">https://wiki.centos.org/Download</a>
<a href="https://www.centos.org/download/" title="https://www.centos.org/download/">https://www.centos.org/download/</a>

I can make the edits if given permission or I am happy to just see them done.

bex

Greater Visibility for Events

I believe we should add a link in the Community NavBar on centos.org for <a href="https://wiki.centos.org/Events" title="https://wiki.centos.org/Events">https://wiki.centos.org/Events</a>

I also believe we should either add confirmed events to the meeting calendar or produce a separate calendar of events CentOS will be represented at.

I can do the updates or am happy to let someone else make the changes.

regards,

bex
