working on this macbook trying to get data off the drive, having a bear
of a time.

hi all,

trying to recover data for a friend off an ntfs drive. well, fdisk
reports it as ntfs anyway. booted a gparted cd and it reported it as
unknown.

mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /media/disk -o force

with this command im getting an error says this doesnt seem to have a
valid ntfs? i thought force, meant FORCE, how can i mount this drive to
get pictures off it? using 9.04 live cd at the moment...., but have
tried no less than a dozen others, none have automounted this drive.

ok, i can usually figure out most problems, but this one has me
completely stumped. the only conclusion i can come to is that my IP is
blocked for some reason, but before i talk to anyone at our helpdesk
tomorrow i figured i would see if anyone has any input.

owa.golub.com/exchange is the url. works fine from my phone when
connected to cell network, but not home wifi, ok when im connected on my
laptop via cell broadband, but cannot connect from my home broadband
connection.

picking up a dell poweredge 750 tomorrow (used, basically given away) 4
gigs ram, 2- 80 gig satas, P4. A little old, I know, but wanted to move
an older P2 box running etch, been using as a print/web server, and
another P2 box running freenas to this new server. will most likely
install hardy. anyone running one of these puppies with ubuntu server?

problem 1, first attempt at doing something like this *ever*, im sure
ill waddle my way through migrating a serendipity weblog and another
site with minimal problems....maybe...

problem 2.

im just going to give my 2 cents here and bow out. ive managed dozens
and dozens of people in my career throughout many age brackets,
ethnicities, etc, people from all walks of life. One of the courses ive
attended over the years taught among other things, diversity. Now I may
be partial to forgiveness or tolerance because of this, but an
individual who understands people all have different methods of
communication, and all have different personalities. One who can manage
to communicate effectively while dealing with these characteristics
poseses a good quality.

Thats not really true.

Many times games run at a fps greater than windows on the same box.
you may want to look at cedega or codeweavers. (not just for games) Ive found that there are many, many games and programs supported by wine out of the box. Both these companies upstream wine improvements so you dont even need to get into subscriptions. good luck.

This is the oddest thing I have encountered, and google has been no
help. The random logouts I have just figured out the tty is changing
from 7 to 9, and then back again to 7 when ever it logs out! eh? Also,
regardless of which tty x runs on, I cannot change to any other tty, or
rather nothing shows when I try to say

checked /etc/gdm/gdm.conf

clueless here, can anyone suggest where else to look? running up to
date intrepid, checked bugs and only major ones I see have nothing to do

Hi, Fairly confident that this will work itself out with intrepid
updates, but does anyone have this same problem?
