I installed ubuntu one months ago and ... well.. forgot about it.
Im just curious, anyone using UbuntuONE? I use dropbox mostly because I
use it cross-platform.

I logged into my computer via VNC today when working on a computer
across the street. After I disconnected and came home I noticed my
keyboard keypad stopped working. I rebooted and still have the problem.

I thought it was num lock but, its on.

Any ideas? Surely the side of my keyboard didnt just die after I stopped
using it this morning. Though.. maybe it did.

I have been using postfix for about two + years but something that was
just out of my understanding at the time was setting up relaying.
Right now I just sent from my mail client (thunderbird) but I would
like to be able to send back through postfix to keep a record of all
sent mails.

Im getting this error:

I have been noticing my ram usage increasing recently.
I took a screen shot with the resources monitor running showing
processes and memory usage and I compared it to my current usage after
rebooting. After a few days Xorg goes from 28 to around 90mb. While not
a lot, it does seem a bit excessive.

Nautilus goes from around 8 to 38mb.

Is this normal?

Now I know TB3 just ran out of room when my /home got full.
It started fine now.

Im trying to get this setup.

Manual setup button doesnt seem to work.

On the Create account section:
My name
My email
My password
My username
My incoming settings
My outgoing settings.

In my logs it says:
dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts: rip:127.0.0.1

Im running postfix and dovecot on my machine.
My password and My username are for dovecot access.
I dont know why its not connecting.

I turn on TB2 - it works fine.

Just a while ago my computer just froze up.
My /home folder was 100% full. Crap!
I booted using live cd and started gparted. I am unable to resize my
home partition.
I have a lot of free space but, it only shows like a few megabytes for
the /home partition to grow.

I was thinking about TB3, and I know several here have moved to it to
try out, but its still not a release version. Any troubles with it yet?

My dad called day before yesterday and said he couldn't get online.
When he puts his cursor over the network icon (9.04) it says no network
connection.

I woke up this morning to find that Thunderbird is having trouble
copying sent mails to the sent mail folder. I went to
/data/wadesmart/Maildir to see what is wrong and ... there is no
Maildir. Ok. That IS a problem. So obviously Im searching about
wondering what the hell happened to my mail and I find
/home/wadesmart/Maildir what Im looking for except, its only got 24
messages just from today. I looked at the dovecot.conf and it says
mail_location /data/wadesmart/Maildir so... Im really confused as to
this could be or can happen.

A friend of mine called and said his computer wont release the IP
address. A little window keeps popping up saying IP conflict. I think he
has a old 98 machine (I know.. he needs off but.....). After releasing
and renewing, rebooting, just turning the thing off for a day or two, he
said it just keeps getting the same ip address again.

He called the ISP and they confirmed that the IP was assigned to another
clients a few days back.

I gave him my 9.10 cd and told him to use it for a day or two.

My friend just called and IM'ed me this message:

Over the past few months I have noticed that pidgin randomly crashes.
Ill wake up one morning and its gone. Ill be working and then its off my
screen. In the past two days its crashed within a few minutes of
starting it, every single time I start it. I cant keep it on. There is
nothing in the system log that I can find. I use this constantly for my
work so Im really eager to find a problem and fix it. Any suggestions on
finding out the issue?

I really like in say OO who you can click email and it will email the
spread sheet you are working on.

Is there a way to add right click _> :Send To: to the right click list?

Im not sure what is going on with my computer right now. Im getting the
following error when I boot:

Users $HOME/.drmc file is being ignored. This prevents the default
session and language from being saved. File should be owned by user and
have 644 permissions.

I have 4955 lines of this error:

and then this error:

the last four digits are a wide range of numbers though.

After getting my fetchmail to work properly (thanks guys :D)
postfix produced an error:

postfix/local: status = bounced (cannot update mailbox
/home/wadesmart/data/wadesmart/Maildir for user wadesmart.)

My mail was in /home/wadesmart/Maildir on my old system.
Now my old home is mounted as /data and my mail is located at
/data/wadesmart/Maildir.

I was reading the postfix manual and it says "Optional pathname of a
mailbox file relative to a local(8) user's home directory."
Im reading that to mean I cant put my mail where it is at - correct?
So can I not have it outside my /home directory?

So I installed fetchmail/postfix/dovecot

My mail was in /home/maildir on my last system but now its
/data/wadesmart/maildir

Postfix:
mydomain = wadesmart.com
myhostname = mail.wadesmart.com
mydestination = wadesmart.com, localhost.localdomain, localhsot
mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8
home_mailbox = data/wadesmart/maildir

When I start fetchmail I receive this error:
fetchmail[6528] connection to localhost:smtp [::1/25] failed:
Connection refused.

I just installed fetchmail/postfix/dovecot (not the postfix-dovecot setup) and
I have the error:

postfix/master[9595]: fatal: open lock file
/var/lib/postfix/master.lock: cannot open file: Permission denied.

master.lock owner is Dovecot with -rw------ permissions.

I dont have this on my old system so I dont know what this is.

I have no idea what has happened but, I have no control over my computer.

I can move the mouse around but I cant click on anything. Once every so often I
can and then its lost the ability again. The mouse has is working fine - even
tried another mouse. However, its also my keyboard. Im not sure what is up but I
did update my system this morning and Im wondering if anyone else is
experiencing this problem.

I rebooted (several times actually) and as soon as the system started and showed
me a screen, I clicked on System and System Log.

Is there a software package for linux that allows one to control a
digital billboard?

I sent my new Sony DVD+RW in for an exchange and I just received the new
one back. I installed a dvd and after getting the audio working - I
thought things were fine. Now Im getting this error repeatedly popping up:

Unable to eject CD-RW/DVD+RW Drive
DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is
already pending.

and

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReplay: Did not receive a reply.

Ive only been on 9.04 for two weeks now and I have seen some odd things.
When the update screen pops up, more than half of the time when I click
on the update button, nothing happens. I have to click on cancel and let
it come up again.

And I have also noticed that pidgin just randomly turns off. On six
different mornings I have woke to find it is no longer on my screen.

I put a cd in the drive and no icon comes up.
I went to Places > Computer clicked on cdrom and it says cdrom not
mounted. So I click mount and the it says no media in drive.

This drive was working - not that it couldnt just break - but is there
something I could check before sending it back?

I am slowly working through my new system working out the bugs.
Today I noticed that while I have sound - its barely audible.
I checked the master, its all the way up.
Under sound, everything is set to ALSA.

What else can I do?

I FINALLY!!!! was able to reinstall 9.04 on my new computer.
I installed with access to my original /home on my old hd.

The first thing I noticed is that my screen doesnt look as nice as it did with
the initial setup. Its the screen resolution. I have a new graphics card on
this system and when I initially installed 9.04 - it looked great!

Im looking in /home at the hidden files and I dont know which file
to change or delete to fix this issue.

Im finally (yea! :D) getting my system started but I ran into another situation.
Partitioner says it cannot continue because it cannot unmount cdrom -- which
has no cd in it. Im using the thumb drive.

I have finally been able to get around the troubles I have had with booting.
Im creating my partitions now and I have a question about the actual
selection of my original /home partition.

My /home is on sdb6 ext3. On partition manger do I edit and just select
use this partition and then choose /home as the reference point?

When booting from a usb stick, does it matter what slot (front or back) the
thumb drive is in?
