I just gunned "menu bar" and replaced with "main menu" (plus "lock screen" and
"logout").

Seems kinda odd/broken for the strings to be bound into the executables when
the provided sysad docs imply such stuff can be altered via the config files,
but oh well...

[gnome] edit name of "Applications" menu?

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to rename my applications menu from "Applications"
to "Apps" in order to (hopefully) get the "main menubar" applet to take up less
real estate in my panel. (thus I also will want to edit the name of the
"System" menu to e.g.

ubuntu 8.* on Dell E-series laptops (32 and 64 bit)

Has anyone loaded up 8.04 and/or 8.10 (32 and/or 64 bit) on a Dell E-series
(6500 specifically) ? If so are there any gotchas (like with peripherials
such as audio, video drivers, touchpad, etc)?

There's various griping about that machine in the forums at Dell wrt Windows on
it, sounds like some audio driver and/or settings issues, plus hardware
(mis)features.
